Demonstration & Engagement Territory
Niterói (RJ)
Located along the shores of Guanabara Bay, Projeto Grael is one of Brazil’s leading initiatives connecting education, sports, and social inclusion through the sea. It was here that the first two Caravelas installed in Niterói found their first temporary home.
For around ten days, the Caravelas remained at Projeto Grael, creating opportunities for technology demonstrations, environmental education, and engagement with the local community.

WHY THIS TERRITORY MATTERS
For decades, Projeto Grael has empowered generations of young people through sailing, education, and a close connection with the sea.
Welcoming the first Caravelas in Guanabara Bay created an opportunity to connect environmental innovation, Ocean Literacy, and community engagement, expanding the conversation about the future of urban waters.

WHAT THIS WATER REVEALED
Even during its short time in the territory, the Caravela sparked curiosity and interest among children, young people, and educators.
The first Caravelas installed in Guanabara Bay showed that environmental regeneration can also become a tool for education and community engagement.
More than generating data, the experience revealed the Caravela’s ability to make visible processes that usually remain unseen, creating new opportunities for learning and connection with water.

WHAT THIS TERRITORY REPRESENTS
Projeto Grael represents the beginning of a journey that brought the Caravela closer to people.
A territory where education, Ocean Literacy, and environmental regeneration came together for the first time in Guanabara Bay, showing that caring for our waters also means inspiring people to become part of the transformation.
