Caravela
Ecológica
We regenerate urban waters with nature-based technology.

WHAT DO WE DO?
We monitor, rebalance,
and generate ecological intelligence for water.
RESTORE BALANCE
We use native algae as ecological biofilters, supporting water remediation
and the regeneration of aquatic ecosystems.
MONITOR
We continuously track water health
through ecological indicators
and environmental parameters.
We monitor water health, help aquatic ecosystems regain balance, and turn ecological processes into intelligence for cities and territories.
GENERATE INTELLIGENCE
We turn ecological data into environmental intelligence to support planning and decision-making across the public and private sectors.

What is Caravela?
Nature-based solution
Native algae for ecological bioremediation
NATURE-BASED
It works every day, right where the water is, supporting the regeneration of aquatic ecosystems.
Works every day, right where the water is Across freshwater, brackish and marine environments
ECOLOGICAL ACTION
Natural remediation and ecological rebalancing
Ecosystem services and blue carbon
ECOLOGICAL VALUE
Continuous monitoring and ecological intelligence
Environmental education and Blue Curriculum
KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION

DESIGNED TO ADAPT.
BUILT TO SCALE.
The Caravela features a modular design that allows its configuration to adapt to the characteristics of each territory and expand into networks of multiple units.
Its system was designed to bring together production, deployment, and operation at scale, while preserving the same ecological logic across different waters.
A technology built to scale,
without losing the rhythm of the water.
Caravela as a service
EVERY WATER CALLS FOR A
DIFFERENT OPERATION.
The Caravela is not sold as equipment.
It is offered as a subscription-based service, designed around the characteristics, challenges, and goals of each territory.
Infinito Mare supports the entire operational cycle:
from deployment and monitoring to data generation, science, education,
and biomass management.
ONE SOLUTION.
MULTIPLE LAYERS.
REGENERATION · MONITORING · ENVIRONMENTAL CHARACTERIZATION · POLLUTANT REMOVAL · DATA · SCIENCE · EDUCATION · EXPERIENCES · CIRCULARITY

Bring teams, students, and communities closer to the science and regeneration of water through the Caravela Experience and educational and engagement initiatives.
THROUGH EXPERIENCES
Support a Caravela operation
in lakes, rivers, bays, marinas, or other
aquatic territories of environmental and social relevance.
IN ASTRATEGIC TERRITORY
Bring a Caravela operation
to waters connected to your activities,
infrastructure, or area of influence.
IN YOUR TERRITORY
YOUR COMPANY
CAN BE PART
OF THIS CHANGE.
There are different ways to connect
companies, institutions, and communities
with the Caravela and the care of our waters.
ONE SYSTEM. MANY WAYS TO CREATE IMPACT.
The Caravela works as an integrated ecological system.
While each project may have a specific focus — from environmental characterization and monitoring to decarbonization or education —
its impacts unfold simultaneously.
By operating continuously in the water, the Caravela activates interconnected ecological, climate, urban, and social processes.
Continuous insight into the ecological conditions of the water.
Environmental Characterization
Water Oxygenation
Natural oxygen dynamics associated with algal growth.
Caracterização ambiental
Leitura contínua das condições ecológicas da água.
Daily tracking of aquatic ecosystem health.
Coninuous Ecological Monitoring
Descarbonization | Blue carbon
Natural processes that capture and store carbon.
Enviromental Remediation
Natural rebalancing processes supported by native algae.
Supporting territories as they adapt to a changing climate.
Climate Resilience
Supporting the ecological functions of aquatic environments.
Ecosystem Services
Smarter Cities
Ecological data that helps inform better urban decisions
EXPLORE OUR TERRITORIES
Every Infinito Mare project takes place in a unique territory — with its own waters, challenges, and environmental context.
That is why Caravela results are monitored and shared individually, project by project, territory by territory.
DESIGN AS ECOLOGICAL FUNCTION
The Caravela was born at the intersection of nature, science, and design, guided by ecological function and a sensitive dialogue with water and its territories.

Developed in partnership with Furf Design Studio, its form is not decorative.
It emerges from observing natural systems, from continuous interaction with aquatic environments, and from the desire to make visible what usually remains unseen.
The Caravela is a Brazilian technology, shaped by Brazil’s historical, cultural, and symbolic relationship with water.
Its name evokes the caravels that once crossed oceans — vessels of passage into the unknown — now reimagined through a different king of journey: one of care, regeneration, and reconnection with aquatic territories.
Like the caravels that inspired its name, Infinito Mare’s Caravela navigates between worlds:
science and society,
technology and nature,
data and sensitivity,
culture and territory,
education and care.
This creative process transformed the Caravela
into an urban sculptural intervention, where form, movement, and function come together
as an active part of the ecosystem.
The Caravela has received international recognition, including:
The Earthshot Prize
(2026)
Prêmio Impacta Mais
(2026)
IF Design Awards
(2026)
Design for a Better World (2025)
London Innovation Award (2025)
Top Innovation Award (2018)

DESIGN PRINCIPLES
-
A living sculptural intervention in the urban landscape
-
Form shaped by ecological function
-
Biomimetic design inspired by natural systems
-
A dual form: a symbolic sailboat and water droplets in motion
-
A public presence that sparks curiosity, dialogue, and care
-
Internationally recognized design
More than form, the Caravela’s design functions as ecological infrastructure — integrating ecosystem services, environmental monitoring, and the continuous regeneration of water.

SCIENCE, MADE TO BE SHARED
The Caravela is also a platform for citizen science and environmental education.
By making the ecological processes of water visible, the Caravela brings people, schools, and communities closer to science and to the care of aquatic ecosystems.
Each installation becomes a living space for learning, where data, observation, and direct experience with water strengthen connections to place and deepen environmental awareness.

CITIZEN SCIENCE IN PRACTICE
-
Observing water and its changes over time
-
Bringing scientific processes closer to the public
-
Translating environmental data into accessible knowledge
-
Engaging students, educators, and local communities

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION & BLUE CURRICULUM
The educational experiences connected to the Caravela are aligned
with the Blue Curriculum, bringing together water, climate, biodiversity, and cities through an integrated and sensitive approach.
Learning from water becomes more than an abstract idea.
It becomes a tangible, place-based, everyday experience.
When science becomes visible, care becomes possible.

MANIFESTO
There is no green without blue.
Rivers, lakes, and oceans play a vital role
in the carbon cycle, climate regulation,
and in sustaining life on Earth.
There are no forests without rivers.
There is no green without blue.
Caring for water means caring for the future.
This is the blue in ESG.
THE PEOPLE AND PARTNERS BEHIND THE CHANGE
Governments, companies, universities, and organizations come together with us around a shared commitment: to care for Brazil’s waters.
Together, we are helping build a new relationship between people, territories, and water.
